Post by mrix »

Attention all parents of children starting / transferring school

Will your child be four years old before September 2008? Or do you have a child at school, who will be transferring to another in September 2008? If so then now is the time to complete an application form so your child can be allocated a school place.

The deadline applications for children transferring school is 19 October 2007 (secondary and upper school transfers), and 23 November 2007 (Reception, junior and middle school transfers).

Parents of new starters should register their child at their local/preferred school now in order to receive the application form.

Parents of children due to transfer should receive an application pack from the school their child currently attends.

Application forms can also be downloaded (links on the right) or you can apply online.

All parents of must complete an application form for their child to be allocated a school place.

Reception, Junior and Middle School Transfers

Forms are available from your local or preferred school and have to be returned to the school for Reception starters and to the child's current school for junior and middle school transfers by 23 November 2007.
Parents who have applied by 23 November 2007 will be notified about the school place for their child by letter. Dorset Local Authority will send the letters out by second class post on 14 March 2008.
Secondary and Upper School Transfers

Forms will be sent to you by your child's current school and have to be returned to the school by 19 October 2007. Parents who have applied by 19 October 2007 will be notified about the school place for their child by letter.

Please note: Attendance of an older brother/sister at your local or preferred school or attendance of your child at a pre-school or nursery attached to a school does not mean that they are automatically given a place. If you need any help please check with your local or preferred school. If you live in Bournemouth or Poole, you need to contact your own education authority.
