The Mudeford Lifeboat Funday is almost here again!
Get your Rafts Ready!
This year it will be held on Sunday 2nd August. Last year we had great success with our fundraising with the final amount raised well in excess of £20,000. This year’s event promises to be even better. The group of organizers led by Sally Derham Wilkes are all keen supporters of the local RNLI and all the money raised goes directly to helping with the running of the station at Mudeford. This station serves all the waters surrounding Christchurch. The money raised by all those who attend goes a very long way to helping with the stations annual costs, thus enabling their crew to get out to sea and keep people safe. There is no doubt that their service is of huge value to the local community!
All the usual fun and games are booked in again this year, with classic funfair rides, lots of games and the ever popular raft race. As usual we will be joined by the FIRE FM who will be broadcasting live from the quay, joining in with the fun of the raft race and helping with the prize giving. This year the bumper BBQ sponsored by Cookes Furniture will be manned by members of the lifeboat crew, who between flippin’ burgers will also be on the water performing exciting demonstrations alongside HM Coastguards in their new AW139 rescue helicopter. The air display will be put on by Steven Bath of Bath Travel and as usual he is planning something very loud, very fast and extremely impressive!
This year the Taverners Big band (on at 8pm) will be celebrating their 26th anniversary, their first ever gig was played in the station on the Quay in aid of the Mudeford lifeboat. The live music with The Mudeford Crabs will start at 6pm followed by a huge firework finale put on by Peeks Party Store and Fly PFT. Get the whole family together, bring your deck chairs and picnic benches and settle in for a wonderful evening!
The fun begins at 10am with the raft race starting at around 1pm. As usual with the help of the local Air Cadets we will be running a Park and Ride service between Mudeford Quay and Stanpit Recreation Ground.
