I'm sure by now that most residents would have seen the SOS notices at Kelly's Kitchen in the High Street asking the locals to "Save our Shop".

This is after Dorset County Council has ended the lease on the restaurant with the intension of extending the library into the premises.

Full story here : http://www.thisisdorset.net/display.var ... ibrary.php

So, should a thriving high street business which has been operational for fifteen years be closed to make way for extra facilities in the Library, including a larger children's section, more IT equipment and a meeting rooms/study areas?

This is a difficult one ... so what are your views?

It's a nice little cafe. If it was one of only a couple of cafes in the town centre, it would have my full support, but the town centre is full of them. We cannot compromise the prospect of a much improved library for the sake of affection.

And Kelly's is still open regardless! A bit expensive though - £4.25 for a bacon and egg sarnie on white bread (they didn't have wholemeal).
